When She Comes

🕊
I’ll turn a blind eye
I’ll gaze to the sky
Feigning indifference
Chronically shy

What took you so long
I’ve danced to your song
Waiting in vain
I’ve tried to be strong

Alone in the cold
I’ve loved and grown old
For a maiden like you
So fair and so bold

Feel the heat of my heart
Hear it flutter and start
You’ve left it too late
It’s falling apart

Now you shimmer in light
Feathers seagull white
Willing me to fly
On a dark Seine night

Shall I soar with the leaves
Flitting like thieves
Or float to the ocean
As the river greaves

When she comes
