The Thin Man

The thin man is pining
He’s misplaced his shadow
He got home at lunchtime
And there he was, gone

He checked in the kitchen and found crumbs
He opened the office, just saw sums
He peeked in the bathroom, saw puddles
He glanced in the garage, more muddles

He brushed by the bedroom, saw creased sheets
He looked in the living room, echoes of heartbeats
He opened the attic, caught clouds of cold skin
He rummages closets, old ghosts closing in

He heads down the hallway, one purpose, one aim
To find his amigo, his soul-mate, his same

Now under the willow
The thin man is smiling
He’s spotted his shadow
And slips him on
