The Long Goodbye

The day I got divorced, the birds sang slightly out of tune;
The day I got divorced, the sun ran circles round the moon;
Ran circles round the moon, it did,
Run circles round the moon…
On the day I got divorced ~
The day the birds sang out of tune.

The day I shed the ring, the traffic travelled in slow-mo;
The day I shed the ring, the people floated by like snow;
Just floated by like snow, they did,
Just floated by like snow…
On the day I shed the ring ~
And traffic travelled in slow-mo.

I thought about tomorrow, on the day we said goodbye;
The time had passed for sorrow, on the day we said goodbye;
No questions asked, no need to die,
No long lost joy to borrow…
For the time had passed for sorrow ~
On the day we said goodbye.

The day I knew she’d gone, my coffee lasted me for hours;
The day I knew she’d gone, I saw our seeds turn into flowers;
Our seeds turned into flowers, they did,
Our seeds turned into flowers…
On the day I knew she’d gone ~
The day my coffee lasted hours.
