Ear Music

Caught by a word
A careless syllable spirals
From your sweet mouth
To my unsuspecting ear

Licking complex contours
Negotiating tunnels
Sound waves forge ahead
Carving novel routes
Through my lazy brain
High on love

A bruising touch
From your butterfly lips
A foreign whisper
Unexpectedly, in tune
With my inner ear music
Throws me

Fifty two different ways
Of saying “I am weak,
And my defences are low”
Course relentlessly, soundless
Across vast deserts
Of shattered vocal chords, screaming

Still you cruelly continue
Your aural torture
Muddling my mind
With cunning curling breath
